FCC Freezes Minor Modification Filings for LPFMs, Translators

The freeze is in effect until the close of the November translator window

Ahead of the November reserved-band FM translator filing window, the FCC Media Bureau is pausing minor modification applications for all LPFMs, translators and boosters in the FM band.

It is a routine action by the commission in advance of filing windows.

The freeze runs through Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Prohibited minor modifications include routine name or address updates, administrative contact edits, ownership changes that do not alter controlling interest, power reductions, channel removals and path deletions.

And as a reminder, the filing window for new noncommercial FM translators in the 88 to 92 MHz band runs Nov. 4–17. You can read a primer on it here.

The FCC originally scheduled that window for August, but pushed it back after community, college and tribal groups asked for more time.
