The FCC is threatening to revoke three Austin-area AM station licenses held by Encino Broadcasting. It says the Texas company hasn’t paid regulatory fees for the stations for more than a decade.
The commission said Encino owes more than $166,000. The amount includes annual fees dating to 2013, plus interest and administrative costs, as well as penalties of 25% assessed when a payment is late or incomplete.
Encino owns KELG in Manor, KOKE in Pflugerville and KTXZ in West Lake Hills, all in the Austin region.
The commission said it sent Encino letters demanding payment and also communicated with it by email.
The company has 60 days to make payment or show cause why it should be waived or deferred.
