Casper, Wyoming Station Owner to Appeal STL Fines

Jan Gray tells local paper $68,000 for lack of STL paperwork is ‘baloney.’

Wyoming Mount Rushmore Broadcasting owner Jan Gray calls the FCC’s proposed $68,000 fine for missing STL paperwork “baloney” and tells the Casper Star-Tribunehe will fight the charges.

Mt. Rushmore is the licensee of Casper FMs KASS, KHOC, KQLT, KMLD, and STL WLP722.

Last week, the agency said Gray had no authorizations for years for any of the STLs associated with the stations and that’s why it proposed the penalty. The agency also said an STL for KMLD was operating in the wrong location.

He has 30 days to appeal or pay the fine; Gray also has 30 days to also the same amount of time to submit a sworn statement testifying that it has come into compliance with the STL licensing requirements.

Gray has since filed paperwork to authorize the STLs.
