CBS Interactive Works With MetroLyrics

Companies have an ‘enterprise affiliation’

CBS Interactive Music Group has a deal with lyrics website MetroLyrics.

MetroLyrics is a database of lyrics, with words to 700,000 songs and an estimated 25 million unique users per month. The Canadian company was founded by Milun Tesovic and Alan Juristovski. It compensates copyright holders through a partnership with Gracenote.

David Goodman, head of CBS Interactive Music Group, said in the announcement, “Our assets integrate naturally into the existing framework of MetroLyrics and vice versa.”

The companies are calling this agreement “an enterprise affiliation.”

MetroLyrics gets to offer users a better music experience. Its updated website now is supported by Radio.com, Last.fm and MP3.com (all part of CBS). MetroLyrics gets to offer editorial material from CBS Radio stations; links to personalized streaming stations and recommendations for similar artists; and access to free downloads. Posts on the homepage will coincide with artists or lyrics based on content from users, artists or CBS.

The relationship, Goodman said, should mean CBS and MetroLyrics can boost their respective audiences.
