Consumer electronics companies are happy about an FCC ruling involving Wi-Fi.
The Consumer Electronics Association reacted to a commission decision regarding the use of Continental Airlines’ Wi-Fi antenna at Boston-Logan International Airport. The FCC ruled that restrictions on the airline’s use of its antenna are pre-empted by FCC rules for over-the-air reception devices.
CEA said making Wi-Fi available “serves the traveling public, allowing anytime, anywhere connectivity. The availability of Wi-Fi devices and service is needed to encourage broadband deployment, which will provide enormous benefits to consumers and our economy.”
