Sports streaming platform FuboTV is using Super Hi-Fi AI-based technology to launch 10 FAST channel “radio” stations in the United States.
“It is the first radio experience created from the ground up for an OTT service, with a TV-first interface and incredible music programming designed specifically for Fubo’s audience,” the company said in the announcement.
FAST channels are free, ad-supported on-demand television channels. The 10 stations are collectively called Fubo Radio and include formats such as current hits, hip hop, country and Latin music.
“These stations bring a premium listening experience with world-class music programming to Fubo subscribers. Fubo Radio leverages the power of AI through Super Hi-Fi, which delivers a music experience that offers the quality production and engaging content that people expect from the world’s best radio stations.”
The announcement was made by David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of FuboTV, and Zack Zalon, CEO of Super Hi-Fi.
FuboTV is a sports-centered platform but Gandler said the addition of FAST channel radio stations diversifies its entertainment choices.
The company said that a recent Hub Entertainment report showed that 49% of television viewers also use their TVs to stream music, and this consumption is growing across all age groups. “Fubo Radio is designed to support and benefit from these usage behaviors while providing a compelling consumer listening experience to complement existing TV viewing habits and the popularity of FAST channels.”
Or as Zalon put it in the announcement: “The soundbar is quickly becoming the new home stereo.”
