In what might be tagged as an experiment in mainstreaming alternative music, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment recently launched an HD2 channel in Minneapolis.
ALT 93.3 KQQL-HD2 offers alternative music programming with artists like The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers.
The station is commercial-free through July 7.
“There is a big appetite for the kind of music” that ALT is airing, said Michael Crusham, market president, CCM&E Minneapolis.
Fans can listen to ALT 93.3 on the station’s website, as well as on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s digital radio service.
