Continental Electronics released a statement on the death of Grant Bingeman, which we reported earlier. It was issued by company President Daniel L. Dickey.
Here’s the text:
Continental Electronics Corp. is saddened to report that retired long-time employee and broadcast industry legend Grant Bingeman has passed away.
Grant was truly a genius at solving complex problems related to RF networks and antennas. He always listened to customers’ needs and was able to find ways to meet those needs, whether related to cost, space or technical performance. Most often all of those factors were important to his customers, and he balanced all their needs brilliantly.
His knowledge of radio broadcast systems covered every aspect of high-power RF design. He personally wrote or contributed to analytical software used throughout the industry. While he was perhaps best known for his skill in designing complex RF systems he was also a pioneering digital system design engineer. He was responsible for designing cutting-edge digital automation systems in an era when radio transmitters were mostly controlled by simple relay logic.
Those of us who were lucky enough to have worked with him day-to-day best remember his sense of humor, tenacity in problem solving and genuine concern for his fellow workers and customers. Having authored a book and published numerous technical articles, Grant was a musician, avid reader and devoted family man. His family will miss him greatly, as will all who knew him.
