Cumulus’ Berner Moves From Print to Air

Veteran of Glamour, TV Guide, Women’s Wear Daily, Rachael Ray

Mary G. Berner, the soon-to-be the new CEO of Cumulus Media, joined the broadcaster’s board in May. She led an “Operations Review Task Force” that the board initiated.

Berner has a lengthy background in print publishing, most recently as President and CEO of the MPA — The Association of Magazine Media, also known as the Magazine Publishers of America, a print magazine industry group.

In addition, she was CEO and board member of the Reader’s Digest Association and earlier president and CEO of Fairchild Publications, part of Advance Publications. When Fairchild was assigned to Advanced’s Conde Nast division, she became an officer for Conde Nast.

Some of the publications and media properties that Berner has worked on include: Glamour, TV Guide, W, Women’s Wear Daily, Every Day with Rachael Ray and Allrecipes.com. She is credited with developing or expanding the digital platforms for several of these properties.
