Entercom Names VP of Social Impact

Also announces New Orleans and Indianapolis SVP/market managers, and others

Entercom has tapped Sarah Harris to fill the newly created position of vice president of social impact starting in the new year. Also, Entercom’s New Orleans cluster has named Kevin Cassidy as senior vice president and market manager, and the Indianapolis group will be led by Ben Hoffman as senior vice president and market manager. Plus, the broadcaster tapped Tom “Cadillac Jack” Kapsalis to serve as assistant program director and midday host for WYCD(FM) in Detroit, and Kristina Hammerschmidt has been appointed news director of KYW(AM) in Philadelphia.

Harris will now lead the broadcaster’s community engagement, including its social responsibility platform, Entercom Cares, and the company’s government business practice. Prior to this, she served as SVP for Emmis Communications where she founded and led Incite, a cause and social marketing division, and before that Harris served as director of community outreach for Emmis.

In his new role in New Orleans, Cassidy will lead WWL(AM/FM), WEZB(FM), WKBU(FM), WLMG(FM) and WWWL(AM).

Cassidy has been in radio for three decades. He most recently served as general sales manager for Entercom Dallas, overseeing KLUV(FM), KJKK(FM) and KVIL(FM). He also had stints as president of D&R National Radio Sales and as vice president/director of sales for iHeartRadio’s Dallas cluster.

Prior to this appointment, Ben Hoffman served as vice president of sales for Entercom Indianapolis for seven years, and he will now oversee WNTR(FM), WZPL(FM) and WXNT(AM) in his new role. Hoffman has more than 25 years of experience, and prior to his stint at Entercom, he was station manager and director of sales for Townsquare Media in Fort Collins, Colo., and Hoffman also was corporate director of sales for Regent Communications after holding several management roles with iHeartMedia in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

In this new role, Kapsalis returns to Detroit, where began his radio career in 1997 at WWWW(FM). He most recently held the roles of assistant PD and afternoon drive host at WQYK in Tampa, Fla. He has also served as assistant program director, music director and afternoon drive host for WXTU in Philadelphia and KCYE in Las Vegas, as well as evening host for WMZQ in Washington.

Hammerschmidt is a Philadelphia native, who joined the company in 2017 as an editor and writer for KYW. She previously served as a producer and writer for KYW(TV) in Philadelphia; WFMZ(TV) in Allentown, Pa.; and WBOC(TV) in Salisbury, Md.
