Public Media Infrastructure has named Jeannie Ericson its inaugural chief executive officer, effective Aug. 3.
Ericson will lead PMI’s mission to ensure local public media stations have the tools, technology and support they need to serve their communities in the post-Corporation for Public Broadcasting era, a release said.
“Local stations are the heartbeat of public media, and I’m honored to lead PMI as we work alongside them to forge a stronger, more resilient future,” Ericson said in the release.
As Radio World has reported, PMI was founded by five public media organizations — American Public Media Group, the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, New York Public Radio, PRX and the Station Resource Group — through a five-year, $47 million grant awarded by the now-defunded CPB.
The transition from satellite to digital delivery systems, data services designed to better understand audiences, emergency alerting infrastructure and revenue-generating platforms are among the services PMI will support, the release said, serving approximately 1,300 public media stations across the country.
Ericson joins PMI from Public Media Venture Group, where she served as a strategy consultant. Prior to PMVG, she spent 10 years leading technology strategy efforts for large corporations while at Candid Partners and then as an associate partner at McKinsey & Company.
Her first role in public media was at WABE(FM) in Atlanta. She also developed her leadership skills and technology expertise in roles at IBM and The Coca-Cola Company.
