Garmin, XM to Offer StreetPilot Portable Navigation Units

Garmin International Inc. has developed portable navigation devices with real-time XM Satellite Radio NavTraffic. The StreetPilot 2730 is a portable navigation unit with a touch screen that can be placed on the dashboard of vehicles. The 7200 and 7500 StreetPilot products, with their seven-inch touch screen display, were designed for larger vehicles – such as RVs, conversion vans, and semi-trucks, but can also be used in any vehicle by those who want the larger screen size.
XM capabilities are delivered to the new StreetPilot products through the GXM 30 “Smart Antenna” from Garmin. The GXM 30 antenna is magnetic, waterproof, and puck-sized so that it can be placed on the dashboard or the roof of the vehicle. The GXM 30 antenna is included as standard with the StreetPilot 2730 and as an optional accessory for the StreetPilot 7200 and 7500.
Garmin predicts the StreetPilot 2730 will be available in Q4, with the 7200 in December.
