In one of the fastest technology rollouts ever at General Motors, XM Satellite Radio will be offered on an additional 21 models this fall – from the Chevy Cavalier to the Cadillac Escalade EXT.
In November, GM became the first auto manufacturer to offer XM as a factory-installed option on 2002 Cadillac DeVilles and Sevilles. Beginning this fall, the start of the ’03 model year, the XM option will be available on the following models:
Buick: Rendezvous, LeSabre; Cadillac: Escalade, Escalade EXT, DeVille, Seville; Chevrolet: Avalanche, Cavalier, Impala, Monte Carlo, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe; GMC: Denali, Denali XL, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL; OLDS: Alero; Pontiac: Aztek; Bonneville, Grand Am, Sunfire.
“These additional models will maintain GM’s leadership position over other OEM competitors in terms of offering factory-installed XM Satellite Radios,” said Rick Lee, executive director of XM Satellite Radio Services for GM. Lee was also a panelist at last week’s CES session “It’s All Digital; Riding the Waves of a New Radio Landscape,” moderated by Radio World News Editor/Washington Bureau Chief Leslie Stimson.
Lee told attendees satellite radio could represent 50% of the radio production mix in GM vehicles within 5 years.
