Harris Details Sales Staff Changes

Details have emerged on sales staff changes at Harris Broadcast, reported here earlier.
The company’s Broadcast Communications Division on Wednesday announced the reorganization of its North American sales team, saying it wants “to expand its capabilities to serve customers.”
The sales group will be broken into teams for television, radio, international and enterprise solution sales.
“Sales representatives from Intraplex Products and Harris Automation will be moving into these new teams to better enhance each team’s ability to offer solutions-driven product packages to the transmission and media acquisition markets,” the company stated.
As reported here earlier, Roland Eid becomes director of radio sales responsible for managing continuing radio transmitter, systems and resales activities for what the company terms the call-letter radio market. Eid was managing director of Harris Broadcast Europe, ITIS Products.
He replaces Virginia Lee Williams, who takes the new position of director of enterprise solution sales, responsible for managing sales to non-call letter customers.
A spokeswoman for Harris also said Radio World’s earlier report about other changes in responsibilities contained some inaccuracies. That story was based on unnamed sources.
“Shawn Olsen will continue as director, television sales, and Richard Frank as director of international sales. Joseph Mack and Marty Frange will remain as directors for national accounts,” the company stated.
Revenue in the company’s Broadcast Communications segment, of which radio is a part, has been on the decline recently. In its recent financial reports, the company blamed most of that drop on a decline in DTV equipment sales. It did not immediately comment this week on whether sales levels were among the reason for the changes on the radio side.
