Harris Is Shipping DAX 5/6

Harris has begun shipping its DAX 5/6 kW AM Radio transmitter, first introduced at last fall’s NAB Radio Show. The models are lower-power transmitters marketed to stations that plan to make a conversion to digital radio.
“The DAX AM 5/6kw creates the most accurate reproduction of the high-definition signal for low power ranges,” the company stated. ” A station can use the DAX to transmit its current analog signal and transition easily to digital by adding a Harris Dexstar digital radio exciter.”
Features include hot-swappable PA modules and Digital Adaptive Modulation, which the company says can reduce antenna load-induced distortion, resulting in a cleaner analog signal, and extended coverage in digital modes, such as IBOC and DRM.
