Henry Announces Warranty Extension, Tech Note on Matchbox HD

If any Matchbox develops hum or buzz, the company will repair the unit at no charge, even if it is beyond the usual one-year warranty.

Henry Engineering is providing no-charge extended warranty coverage of its Matchbox HD product.

“This was prompted by feedback from our customers that began last summer,” President Hank Landsberg said. “One of our suppliers had shipped us some electrolytic capacitors that were either mismarked or improperly manufactured. Some of these caps were used in Matchboxes. Although they work perfectly when new, the parts could cause the Matchbox to have a high noise level after a few years of use.”

Landsberg said if any Matchbox develops hum or buzz, the company will repair the unit at no charge, even if it is beyond the usual one-year warranty.

“When the problem was identified, it was quickly corrected,” Landsberg stated. “Matchboxes now in dealer stock are fine. Only Matchboxes were affected.” The questionable capacitors were not used in any other Henry products, he said.

Customers should contact Henry Engineering at (626) 355-3656 with questions or to arrange a free repair.

The tech note applies to just Henry’s “analog” Matchbox HD or TwinMatch. The company’s USB products and other gear are not affected.
