How XM Marketed Baseball

XM launched its 2005 Major League Baseball season at spring training facilities in Florida and Arizona using “activation marketing” to reach potential listeners through signage and trial use of XM radios.
The company said it followed up on opening day with in-stadium marketing with the top 10 teams, where it emphasized its year-long coverage of baseball’s season and the slogan, “Every team, all season long – only on XM.”
In support of baseball, XM also launched a national TV ad titled “Why Can’t We Be Friends.” It focuses on fan team loyalty and the traditional baseball rivalries that are bridged – so says XM – by having a satellite radio. The ad can be seen on XM’s website at www.xmradio.com.
