iHM Sacramento Chooses Geary as Market President

Michael Jordan named Coyote Calhoun’s replacement in Kentucky

IHeartMedia Sacramento announced today that John Geary has been named market president, effective immediately.

Geary will oversee the market’s overall operations including all station activities and events to help drive sales and achieve revenue targets, a release said.

He has more than 30 years of experience in the radio industry. From 1997–2013 he served as vice president and general manager for Entercom in the Sacramento market. His experience also includes senior roles at Brown Broadcasting Co. in Sacramento and Bonneville International in Chicago.

IHeartMedia Sacramento owns and operates KFBK(AM), KSTE(AM), KHYL(FM) and KQJK(FM).

In other iHM news, WAMZ(FM) says Michael Jordan, ops manager for the iHeartMedia Lexington, Ky., cluster and PD of WBUL(FM), will become the station’s new program director.

He will continue to fill his current duties, adding responsibility for WAMZ in Louisville. Jordan replaces Coyote Calhoun, who is stepping down as program director at the end of the year, after 35 years with WAMZ.

“Coyote Calhoun built WAMZ into a legendary brand,” said Jordan. “We want to continue his legacy of great country music, concerts, and a tireless dedication to the community.”>
