Interest in Election Was High Abroad, VOA Finds

VOA said it experienced “unprecedented demand” for news of the presidential election from its audiences.
VOA Director David Jackson said in a statement that “this year, we had more requests for coverage, particularly on television, than ever.”
The organization released a list of election coverage highlights including the airing on Radio Aap Ki Dunyaa, VOA’s Urdu-language radio program, of a four-hour special election broadcast to Pakistan; and a three-hour live TV/radio simulcast by the Spanish Branch, parts of which were carried by outlets in Latin America, including national networks in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Uruguay.
It said overall, VOA broadcast the election news in 44 languages.
