J. Stewart Vanderwilt Elected to PRI Board

KUT/Austin, Texas Director and GM J. Stewart Vanderwilt is the newest member of the board of directors for pubcaster program syndicator Public Radio International. The PRI Board unanimously approved Vanderwilt, who begins his 4-year term in June.
“Stewart’s leadership at KUT has been extraordinary,” says PRI President and CEO Stephen Salyer. “He has transformed the station into a leading news organization while boosting station membership and underwriting initiatives.”
Vanderwilt said PRI is an innovator in public radio program development, distribution, and station service.
Vanderwilt helped KUT launch KUT News in June 2002, the first full-time public radio news operation for Central Texas. PRI said Vanderwilt improved KUT’s fundraising strategies and is supporting KUT’s digital transition.
Prior to his position at KUT, Vanderwilt held a variety of positions with Indiana Public Radio at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., including general manager and station manager.
Vanderwilt serves on several boards, including Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic of Texas and the National Public Radio Digital Transition Advisory Committee.
KUT is the public radio service of the University of Texas at Austin.
The Minneapolis-based PRI network provides more than 400 hours of noncommercial programming each week, content that is broadcast and streamed online by its 746 affiliates. PRI programming is also available nationwide on Sirius Satellite Radio.
