JBL’s Control family has been more associated with installation than broadcast over the last few years but the Control 2P is likely to attract radio station interest.
The Control 2P is a small, powered two-way monitor system running as a master/slave pair. The heart of the 2P system a 5.25-inch low frequency driver and a 0.75-inch polycarbonate dome tweeter. Specs are 80 Hz – 20 kHz with a top SPL of 115 dB. Power is from a 35 W amplifier. The Control 2P has XLR, 1/4-inch (Neutrik combo) and RCA inputs along with a stereo headphone jack (1/8-inch).
There is also a volume control, high-frequency EQ and internal peak limiter with the master speaker. The 2P is also magnetically shielded and has snap-on pedestals for desktop use. Mounting brackets are also available.
The Control 2P system includes one powered “master” speaker, one passive extension speaker and power supply, for $249 MSRP. The Control 2P powered Master speaker is available separately with a power supply for $189. The optional MTC-2P Mounting Kit contains two wall-mount brackets and a power supply holster, for $25.
