Broadcast engineer Ken Jones has died, according to the newsletter of SBE Chapter 14.
“Ken went in for a routine operation yesterday morning, and in the words of his son Jamieson, ‘something went terribly wrong,’” the newsletter reported Thursday.
“Ken was a legendary Massachusetts broadcast engineer and was a mentor to more than a few of our chapter members.”
Radio World will report more information as it becomes available.
Jones had worked in the past as a regional engineering manager and later regional VP of engineering for Clear Channel.
Company engineering exec Steve Davis told RW that Jones was “a hard-working, respected engineer for us in the Northeast region, specializing in the smaller markets there. He was never reluctant to roll up his sleeves and took a very hands-on approach, lending valuable technical assistance in our small New England markets. Ken was a good man and will be missed by myself and CC.”
