As the radio industry looks for alternatives to traditional satellite distribution, one media company aligned with college athletic broadcasts is going in full-throttle with an intriguing distribution ecosystem Radio World readers already know.
Learfield and Adventure 33 have announced a partnership for the Prism distribution platform.
The cloud-based solution will be used for audio distribution across Learfield’s approximately 140 school partners. In a release, Learfield said it directly supported the platform’s development.
Radio World has previously profiled Adventure 33, which was founded and is led by Adrian Berkovits.
“Prism routes audio simultaneously across five independent infrastructure layers and multiple cloud and dedicated providers, each with different network paths among multiple geographic regions,” Berkovits told our Paul McLane.
In a release, Learfield said it will be “the first large radio network to move beyond satellite distribution.”
“Learfield invested in the development of Prism because we saw an opportunity to modernize audio distribution at scale and build a stronger foundation for the future — much as Clyde Lear did when he embraced satellite technology 50 years ago,” said Ben Blevins, senior director of broadcast technology and engineering at Learfield.
Learfield works with approximately 1,200 collegiate institutions and 12,000 brand partners across its college sports and live events portfolio.
