U.S. Poet Laureate Philip Levine will be one of the guests for 2012 season of “The Poet and the Poem.”
Hosted by Grace Cavalieri and in its 35th year, the program is recorded at the Library of Congress. Distribution is via the Public Radio Satellite System’s ContentDepot with funding provided by the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry.
The season guest list include Clarinda Harriss, Gray Jacobik, Forrest Gander, Robert Bringhurst, Michael Gushue, Jody Bolz, Kim Roberts, Fred Joiner, Dan Vera, Carolyn Joyner, Emma Trelles, Belle Waring, Walter Cybulski, Mark Trainer, Askia Muhammad, Jim Daniels, Luis Albert Ambroggio and Carlos Parada Ayala.
“The Poet and the Poem” features interviews with living poet along with readings of their works. An estimated 2,000 poets have been interviewed on the program by Cavalieri since its inception in 1977.
