Lloyd Roach of Route 81 Touts 'Plain Old Radio'

A new company called Route 81 Radio has inked deals for 13 radio stations in New York and Pennsylvania.
The company is based in West Chester, Pa.; its president/CEO is Lloyd Roach. The company intends to target the Northeast and Middle Atlantic States.
Roach released a statement committing the company to growing the stations through “the plain old radio strategies that I have successfully implemented in the past.” He said radio stations should have close ties to the communities they serve.
Avalon Equity Fund out of New York backs route 81 Radio. A company official said there is “significant opportunity” for a smaller radio company using a geographically targeted approach.
The group includes stations being acquired from Citadel, Eolin Broadcasting, WCOJ Radio and Seven-Thirty Broadcasters. The stations are in Elmira-Corning, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Philadelphia/West Chester and Harrisburg/Carlisle.
