Mediabase Acquires All Access Downloads

Generali scoops up Joel Denver’s music distribution business unit

Mediabase has acquired the music distribution business portion of All Access.

“This strategic purchase will usher in a new era of convenience by consolidating their services within Mediabase, simplifying the process for users in search of music downloads and the unmatched airplay data Mediabase reports,” according to the buyer.

Joel Denver, president and publisher of All Access, had announced recently that he would stop publishing on AllAccess.com after 28 years, citing changes in the music industry and “strong financial headwinds.” The website remains in a streamlined form without regular news updates.

The All Access Downloads service is a permission-based audio distribution platform that allows content owners in the music industry to distribute music to authorized radio industry professionals and other qualified recipients. Mediabase is acquiring the intellectual property and client base of that business unit; no employee moves are involved.

Mediabase provides radio airplay and music charts data, tracking and reporting on songs played on stations throughout the United States and Canada. It is part of iHeartMedia. President/CEO Philippe Generali said that with this deal, it now can offer a “seamless user experience by providing downloads of broadcast-quality content from our label partners. The power of these collective platforms promises to redefine how industry professionals access and leverage media assets.”
