Long-time Chicago-area contract engineer Mike McCarthy this week takes on a new title: director of engineering for Newsweb Corp.’s nine-station radio group. He’ll answer to VP and GM Harvey Wells.
McCarthy has been working in the Chicago area for 18 years, and most of that time as a full-time contract engineer. He also worked earlier for WLIT(FM) and WCKG(FM) as a staff engineer.
Now he will oversee technical operations of Newsweb stations in the Chicago market and elsewhere. His firm, MRE, has provided engineering services to the company; it rebuilt WCFJ(AM)’s transmitter site in 1999.
