Mississippi Radio Vet Jim Karr Dies

Debut Broadcasting Corp. is mourning the death of Jim Karr, a fixture in Mississippi radio. Karr passed away Wednesday at his home after battling cancer. He was 69.

“Jim was one of the nice guys in our business,” said CEO Steven Ludwig. “He cared deeply about radio and about the Mississippi Delta. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Margaret, and the rest of their family.”

At the company’s radio stations in Greenville, Miss., a recent studio renovation was dedicated as the Jim Karr Studios in honor of his service to the industry. Debut Broadcasting’s Greenville radio stations aired tributes Wednesday.
