The Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council has announced two new additions to its Board of Directors, Steven C. Roberts, founder and president of The Roberts Company, and Rodney S. Sampson, founder and CEO of the Opportunity Ecosystem. Both have previously served as advisors to MMTC and are inductees in the MMTC Hall of Fame.
Roberts is based in St. Louis and has previously served on six public company boards in the banking, manufacturing and telecommunications sectors, according to the press release. He also was on the FCC’s Advisory Committee on Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age. MMTC has also announced that Roberts will serve as a panelist at the FCC’s “Roundtable Discussion on Government Advertising” on March 23, hosted by the FCC’s Office of Communications Business Opportunities.
A technology entrepreneur, investor and author, Sampson began the Opportunity Ecosystem in an effort to reduce the poverty and wealth gap amongst underrepresented communities, a release said. Sampson and MMTC previously partnered on MMTC’s “Net Equality Tour.” Sampson was part of a recent trip by MMTC leaders to the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
“It is fitting that as we celebrate our 30th year of advocacy on behalf of multicultural and women entrepreneurs, we have added two members to our team who embody the image of what multicultural success looks like,” said Kim M. Keenan, MMTC president and CEO. “With their leadership and expertise, MMTC will be even better positioned to facilitate newer and more innovative opportunities for diverse entrepreneurs.”
