NPR has selected Mobilcast to deliver 45 of its podcasts to cell phone users in the U.S. and Canada, according to the companies. Mobilcast is a cell software application and web tool; with the product, listeners can enables search for, stream or download podcasts to their phones. NPR’s podcasts will appear as a branded channel in the Mobilcast configuration.
The application runs on a variety of phones and can be downloaded from the company’s Web site.
Additionally, the service will offer podcasts from NPR Member station KCRW(FM), Santa Monica, Calif.
NPR says it’s tracked nearly 18 million downloads of its programming since its launch last summer.
