MPB Plans Transmission Rollout in Eight Markets

Continental Electronics won a $1.48 million contract from Mississippi Public Broadcasting to install eight FM digital and analog transmission systems.

Continental Electronics won a $1.48 million contract from Mississippi Public Broadcasting to install eight FM digital and analog transmission systems.

MPB plans installations at WMPN in Raymond; WMAV in Oxford; WMAH in McHenry; WMAU in Bude; WMAO in Inverness; WMAW in Rose Hill; WMAE in Booneville; and WMAB in Ackerman.

The installations will take place in two phases, each consisting of four stations. All will include the Continental 816HD analog/HD transmitter; the Continental HDe IBOC Exporter; the Nautel M50 Digital Exciter, the Orban 8500HD Audio Processor; and a PSi IBOC Importer.

Bob Buie is director of technical services for Mississippi Public Broadcasting. The install is to be done by Continental with on-site assistance from Mississippi Authority for Educational Television. The project manager is Will Collins, Richard Garrett is installation supervisor.
