NAB is trying to put its own spin on stories due to appear Monday in the Hollywood Reporter and the Los Angeles Times that quote a Future of Music Coalition report as showing a decline in radio format diversity.
NAB said of the survey: “It contains very little, if any, news.” The association questioned the methodology of the survey, and said other industries are far more consolidated than radio, including the recording industry. “Five music labels account for 84 percent of album sales,” said NAB.
NAB also disputes the FMC claim that consumers are dissatisfied with radio.
