Nautel and Quu have partnered to simplify visual radio implementation for broadcasters by creating what they describe as the “first integrated Virtual Radio Air Chain.” The integration will be on display at the upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas.
The Virtual Radio Air Chain combines Nautel’s software-based air chain with Quu’s ad and programming content management system, which comes with the Rapid technology base platform at no additional cost, according to a joint press release.
“This powerful integration allows radio broadcasters to effortlessly synchronize on-screen visuals with their audio content, enhancing listener engagement and unlocking new revenue opportunities,” the companies said.
The Visual Radio Air Chain extends Nautel’s software-based approach for HD Radio by integrating Quu offerings directly into the transmitter, with integrations that tie in studio automation. “The result is a seamless software-based air chain implementation that extends from content playout through visual metadata, audio processing, HD coding and synchronization,” read the release.
Nautel and Quu will host a live demonstration of the integration at the Nautel booth, W2809. The demo will showcase real-time implementation of station logos, album art, advertiser graphics and metadata synchronization. Xperi, Quu and Nautel will also co-host an industry reception at the Nautel booth on Monday, April 7, at 4 p.m., offering a networking opportunity for broadcasters to discuss the future of metadata-driven radio experiences.
“Radio broadcasters have a unique opportunity to enhance their presence in the modern car dashboard, and Nautel is committed to making it easier than ever to implement visual metadata,” said Philipp Schmid, CTO of Nautel. “Our collaboration with Quu ensures that every station, whether AM or FM, can deliver an engaging visual experience that strengthens listener loyalty and advertiser value.”
As for other learning opportunities, NAB Show attendees interested in implementing visual radio at their stations can attend a tutorial on Sunday, April 6, from 1:15–2:00 p.m. at the Flamingo Hotel. Presenters will offer a step-by-step guide to deploying visual radio, addressing technical, operational and revenue-driven best practices, according to organizers. The session follows the annual Radio Technology Forum.
