Dick Purtan will enter the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame at the spring NAB convention. Purtan is host of WOMC(FM) Detroit’s “Morning Show With Purtan’s People.”
The organization singled him out for his four decades in radio as well as his charitable contributions. Over 18 years, his Salvation Army Radiothon has raised about $10 million for the Army’s Bed & Bread program. It brought in $1.7 million last February.
The Detroit News recognized those efforts in 1993, naming him “Michiganian of the Year.” He’s also a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago.
