NABEF Recognizes Lowe’s with Corporate Leadership Award

Honors commitment to disaster relief, education, community improvement

The NAB Education Foundation will present the Corporate Leadership Award to Lowe’s Companies, Inc. during the 15th annual Celebration of Service to America Awards, which are sponsored by Hubbard Broadcasting Group and Bonneville International. The awards will be given on June 3 at the Washington Convention Center.

The award recognizes nonbroadcast businesses that demonstrate a commitment to community service and corporate social responsibility.

“Lowe’s disaster relief efforts, community improvement initiatives and education grant and scholarship programs have assisted countless Americans,” said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. “The NAB Education Foundation is pleased to award the Corporate Leadership Award to Lowe’s for consistently demonstrating its commitment to community service.”

According to a release, Lowe’s a long history of community service, dating back to its founding in 1946. Through grant programs, national partnerships and the Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteer program, the company, along with the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, contribute more than $30 million annually to public education and community improvement projects in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The company partners with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together to provide homes for low-income families. Lowe’s also works with the American Red Cross and the First Response Team of America to assist during disasters; with its customers, Lowe’s has contributed over $24 million to the Red Cross since 1999. In education since 2006, Lowes has contributed more than $34 million, funding improvements at 7,500 schools and benefiting more than four million schoolchildren through its Toolbox for Education. In addition, it has a $10 million investment in trade and technical education in its partnership with SkillsUSA and scholarship programs and partnerships with the United Negro College Fund, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and American Indian College Fund.
