The uplink station consists of two 8.1 meter uplinks with five regular and one redundant channel. In addition, one 4.8 meter uplink will be installed for backup applications.
The uplink station, which is set to kick off at the end of this year, is an extension of the company’s existing teleport uplink infrastructure in Nantes. TDF’s teleport in Nantes is solely operated via remote control at its playout center in Paris.
The teleport at the Atlantic Coast has an unusual geographic location — most French teleports are around Paris — that offers backup links as well as primary links. The installation strengthens the company’s backup business in case of transmission breakdowns at other urban teleports due to bad weather.
