New property concentrates on OTT distribution

NewBay Media, publisher of Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News, TV Technology and Radio World, has announced a newly developed property, Next TV. According to the publisher, the Next TV brand will focus “on business opportunities in over-the-top and digital video.”

Next TV will be a print and epublication along with an annual event.

NewBay Media President/CEO Steve Palm said, “Next TV will leverage the significant resources and reputation of B&Cand Multichannel News, while having its own voice and point of view.”

The print publication, an annual called Next TV Guide, will be a special included with the July 16 issues of Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News. According to NewBay Next TV Guide will “serve as best practices and as an overview of all aspects of the ecosystem of players that provide the critical pieces for the delivery of online and mobile video.”

The epublication will be a weekly enewsletter that starts on Aug. 15. The newsletter will be compiled by NewBay Media editors and feature OTT stories and analysis on the growing importance and opportunities of OTT delivery.

An annual Next TV Summit is scheduled for San Francisco, Sept. 20. NewBay explains the event will “feature keynote interviews and panels with the brightest minds in the industry from the most innovative companies. The event will also feature exhibitors, ad agencies, venture capitalists, apps developers, and programmers in the OTT and digital video space.” Also, “Speakers will provide insights on the current state of the industry, future business models, and advice on how to overcome today’s challenges in engaging audiences on new platforms.”

Vice President and Group Publishing Director for Broadcasting & Cable, Louis Hillelson said: “Media and entertainment executives, technology companies, new platform companies, and app developers are looking for a place to learn, network, and understand the growth opportunities and challenges. The Next TV Summit will bring all the key players together in a one-day event in San Francisco to uncover the opportunities, while the enewsletter and the guidekeep the conversation going all-year long.”
