KMZT/KSUR Owner/GM Saul Levine is criticizing a funding between Clear Channel and pubcaster KUSC in the Los Angeles market. RW Online told readers earlier in the week Clear Channel is going to lend a hand to KUSC in the fundraising department, freeing up KUSC’s limited staff for other pursuits. Laradio.com quotes Levine as saying the deal won’t make him give up on radio in the area. When Clear Channel and KUSC announced the arrangement, they said Clear Channel would contract with KUSC to market underwriting opportunities. All programming, underwriting decisions and length of sponsor announcements remain the sole responsibility of KUSC.
