NPR Expands Business Framework for Podcasts

NPR Expands Business Framework for Podcasts

To date, podcasts by NPR and public radio stations have been downloaded more than 13 million times, the network says. Today it launched the third phase of its podcasting initiative, which began six months ago.
This phase adds a directory of podcasts produced by NPR, 79 stations and others. NPR is also doing its first full-program podcast by adding free download of the show “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me,” which had been available through a third-party paid service.
All of NPR News’ hourly Newscasts are now offered as podcasts; that’s 24 newscasts instead of the previous four.
The alt.NPR brand expands with several new titles. Also new is the NPR Station Showcase, a weekly podcast from the Public Radio Exchange highlighting content from stations. And NPR.org now archives the 10 most current editions of each NPR title.
