NRB Calls for 40 Days of Prayer

Campaign is built around theme 'If my people'

Citing an “unprecedented spiritual and moral decline in our nation,” the executive committee of the National Religious Broadcasters is asking stations to air PSAs in support of an upcoming prayer campaign.

“The NRB Executive Committee is issuing a call to God’s people to devote ourselves to 40 days of earnest, soul-searching prayer, beginning Sept. 1, 2010.” The campaign is build around a biblical verse, “If my people.”

It issued a request to its mailing list that stations record 30- and/or 60-second audio or video PSAs, encouraging Christians to take part in the prayer initiative; it also asked supporters to cut an endorsement of the 40 days of prayer for posting on the campaign website.

It posted sample endorsements and PSAs.

The title of the campaign references 2 Chronicles 7:14, which reads: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
