Non-commercial radio has two deadlines to apply for fiscal year 2010 grants for the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
The deadline for most applications is Feb. 4, 2010, while the deadline for radio applications for projects filed during the FCC NCE FM window is Feb. 26, 2010.
The PTFP funds the construction of new public radio and television stations and new non-broadcast public telecommunications facilities; the public radio and TV digital conversion and equipment replacement at pubcast radio and TV stations.
For FY 2009, NTIA awarded a total of $19.4 million in PTFP funds to 111 projects, including 63 radio awards, 47 television awards, and one non-broadcast award. The radio awards ranged from $7,556 to $322,364. The television awards ranged from $5,122 to $731,924. One non-broadcast award was made for $50,142.
Applications must be received by 5 p.m. The FCC is accepting applications for new NCE FM facilities only during Feb. 19–26, 2010, so the NTIA will provide time for FM applicants participating in that window to file both their PTFP and FCC applications.
