PREC Scholarship Deadline Is Monday

Engineering group offers help to attend technical event in Vegas

The deadline is approaching for public radio technical employees to apply for a scholarship to attend this year’s Public Radio Engineering Conference.

PREC will be held April 8–9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Association of Public Radio Engineers is offering a limited number of scholarships to cover registration and some travel costs. Made possible through contributions from several donors, the scholarships are aimed at public radio engineers or operations technical staff who are new to the field and have never attended a PREC.

“We are very excited about being able to do this again. The APRE board of directors originally thought that because of the economic uncertainty facing many stations that we would not be able to continue the scholarship project this year,” according to Vermont Public Radio DOE Rich Parker, head of the scholarship effort.

Send a brief application (50 to 100 words) explaining why you would like to attend PREC, how you think you and your station would benefit and a short description of your duties, experience and future aspirations in radio.

Scholarship nominations are due Monday, March 22 to Rich Parker via e-mail at [email protected]. The subject line should read “PREC Scholarship Application.” Do not include any attachments in the e-mail.
