Skyview to Produce Rays Games From Arizona Due to Ian

Precautionary step taken ahead of hurricane

Because of business closures in Florida related to Hurricane Ian, Skyview Networks said it will remotely produce the Tampa Bay Rays baseball in-game radio broadcast from its Technical Operations Center in Scottsdale, Ariz., for the next several days.

The Rays themselves are on the road to play the Cleveland Guardians, but the storm is affecting businesses and infrastructure in Florida. Normally the games are produced locally at WDAE, the Rays’ flagship radio station in St. Petersburg.

The Skyview Networks operations and engineering staff will manage play-by-play broadcasts for the series and distribute the audio to Rays affiliates.

Andrew Kalb, Skyview SVP of business development and communication, said the Rays personnel will handle play-by-play us usual.

“We will have two Skyview team members producing the game from our facility in Scottsdale.  One producer will be running the board and making sure the mix includes the play-by-play, liners, commercials and billboards. A second producer will be handling the highlights for the game.”
