Pyramix Native, the software-only version of Merging Technologies’ Pyramix Virtual Studio DAW, has undergone an improvement in specs and functionality, according to the company.

The standard Native system grows from two to four inputs and outputs, and the more advanced Native Media Bundle grows to eight inputs and outputs. Both versions have increased from 8- to 24-track editing, mixing and processing.

Additionally, Native and Media Bundle now contain the increased functionality of the Pyramix Virtual Studio v5.0 software with the option of 96 kHz sample rate. Merging says this design is suitable for broadcasters who require lower cost laptop or desktop audio tools for recording, editing and pre-production mixing.

Pyramix Native operates on any Windows XP-based desktop or laptop PC using the computer’s audio engine or ASIO compatible audio card. If offers the real-time editing and mixing capabilities of Pyramix Virtual Studio and supports the same audio formats including WAV, BWF, AIFF and SD2. Audio formats can be mixed within the same project without conversion. The AAF import and export option also allows project interchange with other mainstream DAW systems.
