Røde Acquires Aphex

Storied processor maker moved to microphone company

Aphex, famed for its Aural Exciter processor, and well-known by radio vets for its Compellor, 2020 line of broadcast processors and other products, has been acquired by Australia-based Røde Microphones.

Seller DWV Entertainment acquired Aphex in 2010.

Røde Founder and President Peter Freedman said, “Growing up in professional audio as I did, I have always had incredible respect for Aphex. They’ve always been the best in the business at enhancing the recorded audio experience, and that is as true today as it was when the company was founded forty years ago.”

DWV Entertainment Chairman and CEO David Wiener noted, “The past 12 months have been the most successful in Aphex’s history, with record sales and profits. This success has attracted the attention of a major industry leader.”
