As a result of drastic budget cuts, Radio Netherlands Worldwide will discontinue its English service at the end of June.
This move means that the RNW website is also undergoing changes: As of July 1 the site will no longer offer a daily review in English of Dutch newspapers or provide coverage of Dutch news stories.
The broadcaster however said that it would continue to provide articles online related to its new mandate — the promotion of free speech in areas where people are not free to gather information or to form and express independent opinions.
On June 29, RNW will broadcast its final radio show in English looking back at its history. Those interested in sharing memories of RNW are encouraged to contact letters@rnw.nl.
