Steven Gallagher, a broadcast technician with New Hampshire Public Radio, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Association of Public Radio Engineers to attend the NPR Labs/APRE Public Radio Conference next week.
NHPR Chief Engineer Michael Saffell stated that Gallagher started with NHPR almost a year ago as an intern, and became full-time last November. Gallagher is eager to learn, and takes the initiative to improve facilities and operations whenever he can, according to Saffell.
Donations from APRE members, additional station engineers and interested broadcast equipment vendors funded the scholarship, according to Rich Parker, DOE, Vermont Public Radio, who’s also on the PREC steering committee. The SBE and its Ennes Educational Foundation and the Pubtech listserv are also to be credited for helping the process, said Parker.
The PREC is April 10 and 11 in Las Vegas.
