Exhibitor Viewpoint: Broadcast Radio at the NAB Show

The company will introduce a new audio archive feature to its Myriad Cloud platform

With the 2025 NAB Show just around the corner, Radio World is asking exhibitors about their plans and expectations.

Liam Burke is commercial director of Broadcast Radio Ltd.

Radio World: What do you anticipate will be the most significant technology trend(s) that radio professionals should be watching for at the 2025 NAB Show?

Liam Burke

Liam Burke: The landscape of radio broadcasting is undergoing what is possible the most significant technological shift in the past 30 years (since the introduction of computer-based playout, automation and scheduling).

Even five years on from COVID, radio broadcasters are still adjusting to the new realities of distributed working and the shift away from traditional, location-based radio studios. We expect this trend to continue at NAB, with a greater focus on cloud-based broadcasting tools and more flexible solutions to support the changing landscape.

RW: Your company is active in the automation and streaming sectors. Briefly, what’s happening within those sectors that readers should know about?

Burke: The concept that our customers seem most excited about is the idea of blending cost effective, flexible cloud-based radio with more traditional, studio-based broadcasting in a Hybrid model. Many of our customers have switched to mixing traditional live radio for key shows but using our Myriad Cloud platform for automated and voice tracked shows throughout the rest of the day.

Another area of excitement is the ability to seamlessly blend studio and remote presenters to allow talent that is not in the same geographic location to collaborate on live shows as if they were sharing a studio.

RW: What will be your own most important product news or exhibit topic?

Burke: We will be introducing a new audio archive feature to our Myriad Cloud platform at the NAB Show. For us, this completes the circle of features on our native Myriad Cloud platform. Broadcasters can now access professional-grade radio playout & automation, music, jingle & advert scheduling and radio newsroom and audio/data logging all 100% cloud native and with zero compromise when compared to our equivalent “on premise” radio software suite.

Myriad Cloud – Live Studio Portal

Despite our focus on cloud solutions, we continue to enhance and improve our traditional “on premise” radio playout & automation software (Myriad Playout) and scheduling (Myriad Schedule). As both on-premise and cloud platforms share the same codebase, all advancements are common to both platforms.

RW: If you are introducing a new product or feature, how is it different from what’s available on the market?

Burke: We firmly believe that our overall ecosystem is considerably more robust, advanced and complete, than anything else on the market, including offerings from what many perceive to be the sectors “big hitters.” By creating a platform that combines on-premise and cloud radio platforms to offer a full hybrid solution, we are able to offer a uniquely flexible and professional solution for broadcasters of all sizes.

RW: Anything else we should know?

Burke: One of the most common things we are asked by many international broadcasters, is “are you new”? We have, in fact, been powering radio stations for more than 27 years, but, for the bulk of that time, we have been focused on the UK and Western Europe. However, our new generation of products have resonated with broadcasters worldwide which is maybe why we are “new” to some radio stations.
