Barix and Digigram have teamed up again, this time offering the new Barix XLink by Digigram series of audio over IP codecs. The codecs come in four models: ST, Dual, AES67 and LE, aiming at delivering audio for studio-to-transmitter link, studio-to-studio link, DVB audio and internet radio applications.
Each member of the XLink family is compact at 1U and rack-mountable with four network ports to separate IP traffic between local IP audio, dual streaming and remote management.
According to Barix, all units are capable of simultaneous multiformat encoding, while three of the four offer multi-protocol streaming; XLink LE is a stereo audio IP codec. All feature redundant dual streaming technology and dual internal power supplies.
XLink ST delivers one stereo/two mono sources over IP and can be used in analog, AES/EBU and all-IP infrastructures. As its name suggests, XLink Dual is a two-in-one product, delivering two stereo/four mono sources that can be used in analog, AES/EBU and all-IP environments. And XLink AES67 supports up to eight stereo inputs/outputs and is purpose-built for all-IP audio workflows.
Front-panel LEDs and VU meters are accompanied by an LCD display and keypad on the ST, Dual and AES67 versions.
