The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Ministry for Communications and Technology, Radio Republic Indonesia and WorldDMB are sponsoring a technology workshop, transmission demonstration and field measurement event.

The event, held in Jakarta from Sept. 24–27, focuses on new digital audio broadcasting (DAB+) technology.

The workshop will provide information on digital radio implementation of DAB+, which has been adopted in more than 40 countries, its transmission technology and a comparison of its against analog FM broadcast.

The Minister for Communications and Technology of Indonesia will give the opening address, and other speakers will include regional senior representatives from RRI, Sharad Sadhu, director of technology at the ABU and WorldDMB Asia Pacific chair.

“The DAB+ digital radio showcase and demonstration will provide a perfect platform to exchange knowledge and expertise from industry experts who have already learned firsthand about the processes and challenges of digitizing their own countries’ radio industries,” said Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia, who also be present at the gathering.
